Maybe I’ve mentioned it often enough, about my ISFiT (International Student Festival in Trondheim) experience back in 2011. I have to say that it was more than traveling experience for me. Trondheim itself was a beautiful in-populous city with wonderful landscape of sea, mountain, forest, river, and snow. Norwegian woods, Scandinavian beauty, you name it.
There, I was hosted by a really really nice couple, Grete & Inge whose daughter & sons have left the house and got them grandchildren :3 My host-mate was a guy from Zimbabwe called Jimmy, and we both were hosted really really nicely. We got good food, very clear explanation about Trondheim (although everything is surely clear, compared to our lovely Big Durian, Jakarta), and very comfortable bed. Don’t envy me, but their house is…… perfect. It is located up on the hill where you can see Iceland from the living room.
Here is a view from their house.
Having an experience to be hosted by them is such a heart-warming experience. Even only for a week, being so faaaarrr away from home with up to minus 16 degree winter cold was somehow….. tough. Another thing was, not every single participant was lucky to be selected by a host, so I was really grateful about that :)
Well, what a nostalgia. Thanks to Facebook that I can still be in touch with Grete & Inge.
A couple of weeks ago, I received a letter from Grete, by post, with photos of them and Guro, their super-adorable grand daughter. The letter was short yet really touching. It was a belated birthday greeting plus a congratulation for my engagement :)
Maybe someday, I should visit them again.
