One of the pop-up cards I made for Ais.
I learned the concept of making pop-up paper craft a few years ago; the simplest one. It was my best friend, Noumi, who made the card (full of Iker Casillas’ pictures cut from newspaper and magazine) for me after reading the tutorial on Gogirl! magazine. Later, I started making pop-up cards for everyone (one of them is Ramda) :D
I wouldn’t write any tutorial in here. My tips is to check here for the basic mechanism, and here for the more advance tutorial, and if you may go googling and end up with hundreds amazing forms of this kind of paper work.
I may only guess what makes pop-up card so special.
It is: the surprise. Because when we receive a folded card, we would expect writing or picture or well, maybe lips mark (duh); something 2 dimensional. Then, ‘tadaaa!’, pop-up card delivers it in 3 dimensions. So, can you see the point? It is about being something more than what is expected.
What else? Simply, it is handmade.
Anyhow, I’ve spilled one of my analog best trick. Why don’t you try? And stop doing the birthday greeting for your important people via Facebook ;)

Last night was LFM Awards, and as always, we had fun. The best part was that I got ‘The Most Innovative Photographer’ award. It was given to me because I constantly use my honestly-awful-and-terribly-adorable plastic cameras for shooting the life. Thank you very very much :) :)

It reminded me on one of my dreams when I joined LFM ITB (Liga Film Mahasiswa ITB), when I just bought my first lomo, Diana; that I want to learn & develop alternative photography.
It’s been a year, or more, and I’m doing it. I fell in love. Then that dream seems starting to come true. Insya Allah, I will participate in Festival April 2010 Photo Exhibition, with my Diana black and white shots. The concept is about ‘Desiring Body’. It’ll be held in Goethe Haus, Jl. Sam Ratulangi, Jakarta from 13th to 17th of April 2010 :)

I’m really really excited. Please come there as the festival would be really artsy and out of the box I think :D

The thing is actually not about how big the award or the exhibition. I read a lot of quotes about dreams. I listen a lot of songs and I saw some movies about them. You dream, it may just come true. I dream it, it may just come true. You dream to be famous, it may come true, but will it make you happy, you should start to think about it as well. You dream to be rich, it may come true, but is that it?
So dream wisely, people.

Hasilnya out of the box. Ada yang membuatnya dalam bentuk komik (as in graphic super short story), atau Nick Hornby yang berkolaborasi dengan Posy Simmonds membuat profil-profil singkat beberapa orang yang bernama J. Johnson (lengkap dengan ilustrasinya!).
Well, I’m not finished yet with this book, tapi gue merasa buku ini punya konsep yang sangat menarik.
Maybe from my point of view, maybe from his/ her point of view, maybe yours, maybe God’s. Who knows, I don’t have exact plans. Just another erratic writing project :D
Silakan ke Pieces of P’s untuk melihat-lihat. Baru gue buat kemarin, ‘belum ada isinya’ :P
Doakan saja gue nggak terlalu labil untuk berhenti sama sekali menulis ini :)
